According to Stuff news, the British couple found dead in a Wellington home have been identified as Ben Anderson and Clare Anderson. Police suspect a murder-suicide case; Ben Anderson worked in scientific research, while Clare Anderson was a teacher.

Police received a call on Monday evening and went to the residence in Roseneath to conduct a welfare check. The caller was a concerned family member who had been unable to contact the couple. Detective Inspector Haley Ryan stated that officers discovered two bodies when they arrived at the residence.

Two post-mortem examinations were conducted on Wednesday, and the cause of death has been referred to the coroner. Police stated that they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Neighbor Emma Prestidge said, "They were very lovely, kind people. It's just awful to think that this has happened." She moved next door a few months ago.

Prestidge recalled that Ben Anderson had been boarding with the homeowner previously, and it was evident that they got along very well. She and her husband, Paul, met the couple while moving boxes in December. She also revealed that they had been traveling back and forth between the UK and New Zealand since 2020, but Ben Anderson had been boarding at the Roseneath residence for some time.

Prestidge stated that Ben Anderson worked in science and Clare Anderson was a teacher, and they had grown children in Wellington. Ben Anderson had a background in energy and had been working as a research scientist at the Building Research Association of New Zealand. Prior to that, he also worked as a research fellow at the University of Otago's Centre for Sustainability from 2017 to 2019 and was also a visiting research fellow at the University of Southampton. Clare Anderson had only recently moved to New Zealand permanently, and her belongings were still in a container being shipped to New Zealand.

Prestidge and her husband stated that they did not realize what had happened until the police knocked on their door late Monday night.
