A father in Adelaide recently issued a plea for help after his wealthy son mysteriously died in the Moroccan city of Casablanca. The deceased was identified as Al McKenna, only 47 years old.
According to McKenna's Moroccan girlfriend, Majda, McKenna died of a sudden heart attack. However, the lack of an official death certificate and McKenna's rapid burial in a Moroccan cemetery just two days after his death have raised concerns among his family in Australia.
"It's heartbreaking... I don't know how to act, I don't know what to do," said Al's father, Alan Moorhead. Moorhead stated that he received a video call from Majda on February 22, in which Majda informed him of Al's death in Casablanca, and he could see Al's body in the background.
Having not yet received an official cause-of-death report, Moorhead claims that Majda is currently uncooperative with the family's investigation. "She doesn't answer any calls, doesn't reply to texts, doesn't respond to anything," he said. The family suspects that McKenna's wealth may be related to his death; McKenna was a successful entrepreneur managing three companies in the UK.
9News is not implying that Majda was involved in McKenna's death. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed that it is investigating the matter and providing consular assistance to McKenna's family.
