Abstract: Premiership Rugby trials "away end" sections at 2 April matches (Saracens/Gloucester & Leicester/Harlequins) to boost atmosphere & attendance. No segregation; aims for friendly vibe.

In an effort to enhance the game atmosphere and increase attendance, England's Premiership Rugby plans to trial a "away end" model in two matches next month.

Specifically, the matches between Saracens and Gloucester at StoneX Stadium, and between Leicester and Harlequins at Welford Road in April, will have designated areas for away fans to watch the game together.

Unlike football matches, these two rugby matches will not implement segregation measures. Saracens and Leicester will provide away fans with the option of watching the game together in a concentrated area. A Premiership Rugby source stated, "Away fans can still sit with home fans; this is simply providing an option for fans."

The source also emphasized, "This is not about creating animosity but about fostering a friendly atmosphere." The league's governing body stated that they have consulted with players, who are very fond of playing in front of vibrant away support. It is anticipated that several hundred fans will participate in the initial trial. "The numbers will be enough to make some noise," the source added, "The players have said that they gain motivation from it, and it can also energize the home fans, creating a positive interaction."

This season, Premiership Rugby's stadium attendance has risen to approximately 81%, a 7% increase compared to 2023. This indicates that the league is gradually recovering from a period of turbulence.
