Alice Zaslavsky is the host of "A Bite To Eat with Alice," which airs at 6 pm on ABC TV and is also available on ABC iview. Alice is also a resident food reporter for ABC News Breakfast and ABC Radio, a food literacy advocate, a best-selling cookbook author, and the creator of Phenomenom, a free digital tool designed to help teachers incorporate more vegetables into their lessons.
Host and broadcaster Osher Gunsberg also joined Alice in the kitchen. As a vegetarian, Osher expressed that he was somewhat tired of the typical vegetarian dishes commonly available. Alice decided to show him something different using one of his favorite ingredients: tofu.
This recipe comes from "A Bite To Eat with Alice," a new evening cooking show on ABC iview, also broadcast at 6 pm on ABC TV. The main ingredients for this recipe include almond flour, cocoa powder, almond flakes, chia seeds, Medjool dates, dairy-free spread, maple syrup, dark chocolate, silken tofu, tahini, espresso, and salt.
The preparation method begins by blending all the base ingredients into a fine crumb, pressing them into a baking paper-lined mold, and refrigerating. Then, melt the chocolate and mix it with the other filling ingredients until smooth. Finally, pour the filling into the mold and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight. Before serving, garnish with cocoa powder, chopped hazelnuts, and a pinch of salt flakes.
