Abstract: Keely Hodgkinson is 2024 Sportswoman of the Year after Olympic 800m gold. Other winners include Spendolini-Sirieix, Storey, and a rowing team.

Olympic 800m gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson has been named the 2024 Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year. The 22-year-old finally clinched a global title at the Paris Olympics last summer and was also crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year in December 2024.

Hodgkinson also successfully defended her European 800m title and improved her British record to 1:54.61 at the London Diamond League, making her the sixth-fastest woman in history. She takes the baton from last year's winner, England goalkeeper Mary Earps, along with track athlete Eilish McColgan, and 2021 winner, tennis player Emma Raducanu.

The 2024 award shortlist was largely composed of Olympic medalists, with Hodgkinson beating 1500m runner Georgia Bell, showjumper Laura Collett, cyclist Emma Finucane, heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, trampolinist Bryony Page, shooter Amber Rutter, and Paralympic cycling legend Sarah Storey to ultimately claim the top honor.

Additionally, diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was named the newspaper's Young Sportswoman of the Year after winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. Storey, who added two more gold medals at the Paralympics, was named Disabled Sportswoman of the Year.

Rowers Lauren Henry, Lola Anderson, Georgina Brayshaw, and Hannah Scott were named Team of the Year for their dramatic victory in the women's quadruple sculls at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ultra-runner Jasmin Paris won the Helen Rollason Inspiration Award, while retired PE teacher and cycling enthusiast Val French was named Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year. BBC radio presenter Eleanor Oldroyd also received a special Editor's Choice Award for her contribution to sports broadcasting.
