According to local police confirmation, a British woman and her South African fiancé were found dead inside a resort villa in Vietnam. The couple's bodies were discovered at a hotel in Hoi An, a city on the central coast of Vietnam.
It is reported that a cleaning staff member discovered the bodies of 33-year-old Greta Marie O'tton and 36-year-old Elies Anno Quinton on December 26th. Police stated in a release that O'tton was found lying on a bed in a room on the first floor of the villa at approximately 11:18 a.m. local time, while her fiancé, Quinton, was found lying on a bed in another room of the villa.
Local media reports indicate that the couple's bodies showed no signs of external injuries or violence, and there were no signs of forced entry into the rooms. VietNamNet, a news agency under Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications, reported that police are investigating the incident after villa staff discovered the bodies.
According to The Guardian, O'tton and Quinton had registered for long-term temporary residence at the villa since July 4th of last year. O'tton was a social media marketing manager, while Quinton was a barista and musician.
A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office told British media: "We are providing support to the family of a British woman who died in Vietnam and are in contact with the local authorities."
