This year, several Australian cities have made it onto the Time Out magazine's list of the 50 best cities in the world, with Brisbane securing 37th place thanks to its sunny weather and green spaces. This ranking highlights Brisbane's pleasant natural environment and relaxed lifestyle.
Perth, representing the west coast, stood out with its "thriving arts scene" and coastal lifestyle, earning it 33rd place. The city's artistic vibrancy and unique geographical location have garnered international recognition, securing its position on the list.
Sydney, with its striking beach scenery, earned the 15th position. Sydney's beaches are not only recreational spots for locals but also a significant tourist attraction, contributing to its improved ranking.
However, Melbourne experienced a significant leap on the list this year, ultimately claiming the title of the fourth best city in the world. Melbourne's ranking improved by 16 places compared to last year, a notable advancement demonstrating its increasing competitiveness among global cities.
Melbourne's success is attributed to its world-class cuisine and culture, as well as several iconic locations, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Last February, Taylor Swift held her largest concert ever at the MCG, further boosting Melbourne's international profile. Furthermore, the largest exhibition in Australia by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, currently on display at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), played a key role in Melbourne securing its fourth-place ranking.
