The UK's largest intelligence agency is looking for new agents, do you think you have what it takes? The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) releases a challenge each year involving codebreaking, lateral thinking, and problem-solving.
This year's challenge contains seven puzzles, each of which leads to a landmark in the UK. You need to use the names of these landmarks, along with the card's cover, to reveal what everyone at GCHQ's offices will be doing during Christmas.
The first question is "What does this text say?" The second is "What remains when you remove rewards, carriers, roles, procedures, routes, and security guidelines?" Remember, each clue reveals the name of a UK landmark. The third question requires completing a sequence, the fourth requires solving a clue. The fifth question requires replacing words in brackets, the sixth is a calculation of numbers, and the seventh is a decryption of a code, perhaps reading the beginning of this substitution code will help you unlock it.
The eighth question requires using the names of the landmarks obtained from each of the previous questions, along with a provided image, to discover what people at all of GCHQ's offices will be doing during Christmas. Hints for the previous questions will be shown on the next page, and the answers to the challenge will be released later. GCHQ has already provided some hints.
