Australian actress Sophie Wilde is a huge fan of the band Amyl and the Sniffers. In an interview, she wore the band's merchandise and excitedly shared her experience of seeing them live twice in the past month. However, she also admitted that she forgot to support them in triple j's Hottest 100 vote, for which she jokingly said, "I know, it's blasphemous."
The past year has been incredibly busy for Sophie. Since her breakout role in A24's Australian horror film "Talk to Me," she has starred in the Netflix series "Everything Now," won an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AACTA), and received congratulations from Prince William himself after being nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) Rising Star Award.
Now, the 26-year-old actress from Enmore, Sydney, is co-starring with Nicole Kidman in the highly anticipated new film "Babygirl." The film received a six-and-a-half-minute standing ovation at its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival. "Babygirl" tells the story of tech CEO Romi (Kidman) and her affair with a young intern (Harris Dickinson of "Triangle of Sadness"). Sophie plays Esme, Kidman's ambitious assistant, and their mentor-mentee relationship mirrors the real-life camaraderie between the two actresses.
ABC Entertainment interviewed Sophie to learn more about her obsession with music and urged her to change her password, coinciding with the release of "Babygirl." When asked what surprised her most about Nicole Kidman, Sophie replied, "She's so cool, she's just awesome. You know, she's Nicole Kidman, and the fact that she's so approachable and warm is just incredible." She also mentioned enjoying the press tour and paying attention to some of Nicole's answers, such as Nicole saying she "loves going to raves."
Sophie also shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes, such as how she and Nicole Kidman tried to maintain their American accents on set to better immerse themselves in their roles. When asked what she misses about Sydney, she mentioned the beaches, bars, family, and friends. She also revealed that her favorite toast topping is butter and miso paste. Regarding whether she believes in ghosts, Sophie said she strongly believes in them and shared paranormal experiences she had on her family farm. Additionally, she recalled terrifying experiences on Omegle and Chatroulette as a child and mentioned Sarah Kinsley's "Ascension" as the song she listened to most last year.
