The Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated that the 25-year-old Thai man was on a flight from New Zealand to Sydney yesterday when he became aggressive due to luggage falling and hitting his head as passengers disembarked. He then struck another passenger in the face.

The man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. This charge carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment.

Acting Superintendent Damian Foyle of the Australian Federal Police stated that the police have "zero tolerance" for violent or abusive behavior. Superintendent Foyle emphasized, "Assaultive behavior in a confined space can cause extreme distress to everyone."
