News released on February 27, 2025, indicates that the non-oil trade volume between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Azerbaijan exceeded $1.5 billion in 2022, while trade with the Central Asian region surpassed $3 billion. These figures highlight the growing economic ties between the UAE and these regions, suggesting a deepening integration.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court of the UAE, the fourth edition of Investopia (Investopia 2025) hosted the inaugural Arab Countries, Central Asia, and Azerbaijan Business and Investment Conference. The conference, held in Abu Dhabi on February 26, was themed "Towards Sustainable Cooperation and Partnership," and brought together ministers, government officials, and business leaders from Arab and Asian nations to explore regional economic collaboration.
His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of Investopia, emphasized that Investopia's hosting of this major economic event demonstrates the UAE and the Ministry of Economy's commitment to strengthening economic cooperation between the Arab and Asian regions, particularly in emerging economic sectors. He noted that the conference serves as a crucial platform for promoting sustainable economic partnerships, enhancing connections between the Arab and Asian business communities, and maximizing opportunities for economic and investment growth.
During the conference, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as regional corridor construction and emerging economic development. There was a consensus among Arab and Asian parties on the need to strengthen economic cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, technology, artificial intelligence, food security, and addressing climate change. Furthermore, the conference highlighted the importance of public-private sector partnerships and facilitated the exchange of ideas on sustainable and resilient economic development, ultimately leading to the decision to host the second conference in a Central Asian country or the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2027.
The UAE's hosting of this conference at Investopia 2025 is a manifestation of the outcomes of the third Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan, held in Qatar in April 2024. This initiative aims to further strengthen economic ties between Arab countries, Central Asian countries, and Azerbaijan, thereby fostering common regional development and shared prosperity.
