To meet the increasing needs of elderly and disabled Australians, Bunnings has expanded its range of independent living products.
The range includes over 2,500 products across 16 categories, such as bathroom and bedroom safety aids, ramps, smart home products, and daily living aids. These products are now available in physical stores, online, and on the Bunnings Marketplace.
Bunnings Chief Operating Officer Ryan Baker said the range is designed to meet community needs and fill a gap in the market. He noted, "We understand that life can present unique challenges for Australians living with a disability or older Australians. The independent living range aims to provide solutions for customers looking to create a personalized space in their homes."
According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), more than 5.5 million Australians live with a disability, and over one-sixth of Australians are aged 65 and over. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) records that 4.3 million Australians live with a disability, and it is expected to provide funding support for an additional 500,000 people over the next five years. Bunnings sees significant potential in this market and believes the category is growing.
Baker added, "In a market that is often fragmented, this category will provide a one-stop-shop experience for customers looking to upgrade their homes at affordable prices. The range focuses on safety, style, current trends, and functionality, as we know our customers need diversity when choosing home products." Furthermore, Bunnings also offers pro forma invoices for customers receiving government funding.
