Abstract: NYPD seeks a suspect who set a 45-year-old man on fire near Times Square early Sunday. The victim is stable. The arsonist knew him. Investigation ongoing.

The New York City Police Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly set a man on fire shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday near Times Square, at the intersection of West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.

Police officers discovered the 45-year-old victim and immediately extinguished the flames. According to the police, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Law enforcement officials stated that they believe the victim knew the arsonist, but have not yet released the victim's name. Police declined to provide further details, stating that the case is still under investigation, with detectives working diligently to gather evidence.

Video and images from the scene show the victim walking shirtless on the sidewalk, accompanied by firefighters after the flames were extinguished. Images from inside the ambulance show the man being treated for burns to his face, neck, chest, and arms.

In December, Debrina Kawam, 57, of New Jersey, died after being set on fire on a New York City subway train. Sebastian Zapeta, 33, pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges related to the December 22nd incident. Prosecutors allege that Zapeta set Kawam on fire while she was sleeping on a train that stopped at the Coney Island station in Brooklyn, then fanned the flames with his shirt and watched her burn from a bench in the subway station.
