Abstract: An Astún ski resort accident in the Pyrenees injured dozens, 10 hospitalized (2 serious). ~80 were trapped on a ski lift. All evacuated; cause unknown.

Emergency services in the Aragon region of northern Spain reported that a ski lift accident at the Astún ski resort in the Pyrenees Mountains has resulted in dozens of injuries. It is reported that 10 people required hospitalization, with two of them in serious condition.

Spanish national broadcaster TVE reported that approximately 80 people were trapped on the ski lift after the accident. An eyewitness told TVE in an interview, "It was like the cable came off, the chairs jumped, and people were thrown out."

Fernando Beltrán, the Spanish government representative in the Aragon region, later posted on social media platform X that "all skiers affected by the accident" have been evacuated and the injured are receiving treatment. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Several helicopters were deployed to the area to rescue the trapped individuals and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Images and videos on social media showed many people lying on the snow below the ski lift.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that he was "shocked" by the news of the accident. The ski resort said on X that they are "working with emergency services" and that its management is "shocked by the incident and offers support to those affected."
