Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently revealed a private letter his successor, Joe Biden, left for him in the Oval Office. Trump was asked by reporters this week, while signing executive orders, if Biden had written him a letter, following the tradition between outgoing and incoming presidents.
Trump found the letter in the Resolute Desk and held it up for cameras to film. The envelope was addressed "To the 47th," referring to Trump's inauguration as the 47th president. Trump stated, "It may be many years before we find this. Wow, thank you."
Trump read the letter and praised it as "very nice." He said, according to local media reports, "Basically, it was a letter that was somewhat inspirational, you know? Happy, do a good job. Important, very important, how important this job is." He added, "But, I might, I thought it was a nice letter. I think I should let people see it because it's positive for him, writing that letter, I appreciate that."
According to a copy of the letter obtained by Fox News, in the two-paragraph letter, Biden wished Trump well in his second term. “As I leave this hallowed office, I wish you and your family well as you embark on the next four years,” he wrote. “The American people — and people all over the world — are looking to this house to hold steady through the inevitable storms of history, and I pray the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation.” “May God bless you, guide you, as he has blessed and guided our beloved country since its founding.”
Trump immediately began work after taking office, signing dozens of executive orders on his first day and overturning approximately 80 actions of the Biden administration.
