The statement posted on her Instagram read, "It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Olivia Hussey Eisley on December 27th, surrounded by family at home." The statement also noted, "Olivia was an extraordinary individual whose passion, wisdom, and pure kindness touched all who knew her."
"Romeo and Juliet" was a major breakthrough for the British-Argentine actress, earning her a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the film. She later starred in the 1974 horror film "Black Christmas" and "Death on the Nile."
The statement mentioned that Olivia was born on April 17, 1951, in Buenos Aires, "and her life was filled with passion, love, and dedication to art, spirituality, and caring for animals." The statement also said, "Olivia is survived by a loving family - her children Alex, Max, and India, her husband of 35 years, David Glen Eisley, and grandson Greyson, as well as a legacy of love that will forever be treasured in our hearts."
