Brighton striker Evan Ferguson has joined West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the season. The Republic of Ireland forward will reunite with his former Brighton manager, Graham Potter, who gave Ferguson his first-team debut at the club in 2021.
The 20-year-old Ferguson has made just 15 appearances this season, 11 of which were as a substitute. He stated, "I can see and understand how big West Ham is. It's a great opportunity for me to come here. I know the manager well and I'm looking forward to working with him again." Ferguson added, "I want to do my best for the club, score goals and see how far we can go."
Ferguson has been sidelined in recent weeks with an ankle injury, but he returned to action on Saturday, coming on as a 73rd-minute substitute in Brighton's 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. His only goal of the season, and his first since November 2023, came in a 2-2 draw against Wolves in October.
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler said, "Evan has been frustrated with injuries over the past 12 months, and to get him back to the level he should be and continue to develop, he really needs regular games. This loan move gives him that opportunity, and under a manager he knows well. We look forward to seeing Evan’s progress over the next few months and wish him all the best."
Currently, West Ham are without forwards Jarrod Bowen, Niclas Füllkrug, and Michail Antonio due to injury. Further updates will follow as they become available.
