A tobacco shop in Sydney was targeted in a ram-raid robbery in the early hours of the morning, and two teenagers have been arrested. It is alleged that they smashed the storefront window of the TSG tobacco shop on Longueville Road and stole cash and cigarettes.
Police received a report and arrived at the scene in Lane Cove at approximately 3:50 a.m. CCTV footage showed a black Volkswagen Golf reversing into the shop's window to gain entry.
The footage revealed that after the vehicle stopped, two masked individuals ran behind the store counter and grabbed several packages. Police stated that they believe the stolen items included cigarettes. A crime scene was subsequently established by the police, and the description of the vehicle involved was circulated to various police units.
Police stated that the vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a home in Emu Plains last night. At approximately 5:45 a.m. this morning, an officer located the Volkswagen in Walter Street, St Marys. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle was pursued to Werrington, where it allegedly collided with a police car. A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station. No charges have been laid at this time, but investigations are ongoing.
