Abstract: Galatasaray will file complaints against Fenerbahce's Mourinho for alleged racist remarks after Monday's derby. They cite "inhumane" comments.

Galatasaray have stated they will be filing a criminal complaint against Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho over alleged "racist remarks" made following their 0-0 draw on Monday. It remains unclear exactly which remarks Galatasaray are referring to.

In his post-Istanbul derby press conference, Mourinho said the home side's bench was "jumping around like monkeys" and reiterated his criticism of Turkish referees, stating it would have been a "disaster" if a Turkish referee had officiated. The match was refereed by Slovenian Slavko Vincic, after both clubs had requested foreign officials.

In addition to threatening legal action, Galatasaray also stated they would be lodging "official complaints" with football's governing bodies. "Since the day Jose Mourinho started working in Turkey, Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has constantly made disparaging remarks about the people of our country," Galatasaray said in a statement. "Today, he has taken his discourse one step further and has gone from immoral comments to clearly inhumane ones."

The statement continued: "We hereby officially announce that we will file a criminal complaint against Jose Mourinho for his racist remarks and will also submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA accordingly. Furthermore, we will closely monitor the stance that Fenerbahce - an institution that claims to adhere to 'exemplary moral values' - will take against the abhorrent behaviour of their coach."

Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur boss Mourinho, and Fenerbahce, are yet to respond to the allegations. Mourinho, when asked about the performance of 19-year-old defender Yusuf Akcicek after the game, said: "I have to thank the referee. After the big dive in the first minute, their bench was jumping around like monkeys on that kid… If it was a Turkish referee, he would get a yellow card after one minute and after five minutes I would have to take him off."

Mourinho added: "After the game I went to the referee's dressing room, of course the fourth official was there, a Turkish referee. I told him 'thank you for coming, you came to a difficult match' and then I turned to the fourth official and said 'if you were the referee, this would have been a disaster'."

Mourinho, 62, a two-time Champions League winner, was appointed Fenerbahce coach last summer and has previously been suspended and fined for criticising refereeing standards in Turkey earlier this season. Ahead of Monday's game, he had welcomed the decision to use foreign officials, having previously described the environment in the country as "toxic". Mourinho said: "I think it is important for the credibility and image of the game." BBC Sport has contacted Fenerbahce for comment.
