The Metropolitan Police announced that a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in South London. Police described it as a "shocking incident" and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Police received a report of a shooting on Paradise Road, near Stockwell Tube station, at approximately 2:30 PM GMT on Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers found the teenager, who was pronounced dead at the scene after initial medical assessment.
Currently, police are working to identify the victim and notify his family. No arrests have been made thus far, but investigations are underway. Superintendent Gabriel Cameron stated, "Our thoughts are with the family of this young boy at this incredibly difficult time." He added, "This is a shocking incident, and I know it will cause considerable distress to the local community."
Superintendent Cameron also stated, "Local officers are on scene gathering CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to establish the circumstances of this incident." Florence Eshalomi, the MP for Vauxhall Camberwell Green, said she was "deeply saddened" by the fatal shooting, calling it "a waste of life."
This year, three people in London, all under the age of 25, have died as a result of homicide. Police cordons and road closures remain in place, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to bring those responsible to justice.
