Abstract: Andrew & Tristan Tate returned to Romania facing human trafficking charges. They deny all allegations, vowing to clear their names in court.

After a weeks-long trip to the United States, influencer brothers Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate returned to Romania early Saturday. They are facing charges of human trafficking and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women. This case has garnered significant attention, sparking widespread discussions.

The brothers, who hold dual American and British citizenship, were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and formally indicted last year. They are accused of being involved in a criminal gang that lured women to Romania and sexually exploited them. Andrew Tate is also accused of rape. They have denied all the charges against them, insisting on their innocence.

According to a post on social media X by Andrew Tate, the brothers' plane cost $294,914 (approximately $185,000 USD) to "fly across the Atlantic to sign a document." The plane landed at Bucharest's Henri Coanda International Airport just before 1 a.m. local time Saturday (10 a.m. Saturday AEST). After arriving at his residence near the capital Bucharest, Andrew Tate told reporters that they returned because "innocent people don't run from anything," vowing to clear his name in court.

Andrew Tate stated, "After everything we've been through, we deserve a fair trial in court to prove that we have done nothing wrong and should not have been indicted in the first place. We shouldn't have been imprisoned, shouldn't have had our assets seized, and shouldn't have been defamed." He also added, "Anyone who believes this garbage information has an exceptionally low IQ." Their lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, told the Associated Press that the Tate brothers are scheduled to meet with a supervising officer on Monday.

Just days after the Tate brothers arrived in the United States, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody stated that her office had launched a criminal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate. She posted on social media that she had directed her office to work with law enforcement to conduct an initial investigation into the brothers. The day after the investigation was launched, Andrew Tate posted on X: "I have committed no crime, they are just trying to find one because they don't like me."

Previously, a Bucharest court ruled in December that the case against the brothers could not proceed to trial due to multiple legal and procedural violations on the part of the prosecutors. However, the case remains open. Upon returning to Romania, Tristan Tate said, "I think it's very telling that we've been investigated for two and a half years, we've been dragged through the media, in and out of prison, and the whole time, last December, a judge said... there's not enough evidence to go to trial."

Last August, Romania's anti-organized crime agency DIICOT also launched a second case against the brothers, investigating allegations of human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual relations with minors, influencing testimonies, and money laundering. They have also denied these charges. Andrew Tate, 38, a former professional kickboxer and self-proclaimed misogynist, has over 10 million followers on X. He has repeatedly claimed that Romanian prosecutors have no evidence to charge him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him.

Andrew Tate said, "There are a lot of people in the world today who have no faith in Romanian institutions... but we are going to restore that faith by coming home as American citizens, going to court, and getting the acquittal we deserve. If the court needs to talk to us, we will be there because we are innocent." The Tate brothers' legal battles are not limited to Romania.

Four British women have sued Andrew Tate in the UK, accusing him of sexual violence and physical abuse, after the UK's Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute him. Last March, the Tate brothers appeared in the Bucharest Court of Appeal in another case, following an arrest warrant issued by British authorities for alleged sexual offenses committed between 2012 and 2015. The Court of Appeal approved the UK's request to extradite Tate, but only after the legal proceedings in Romania have concluded.
