Abstract: Nathan Aspinall won his first European Tour title, defeating Ryan Joyce 8-4 in the European Darts Trophy final. He beat Humphries & Anderson en route.

Nathan Aspinall defeated fellow countryman Ryan Joyce 8-4 in the final of the European Darts Trophy in Germany to win his first European Tour title. This marks a significant milestone in Aspinall's career, highlighting his rise on the European stage and solidifying his position among the elite.

In the final, Aspinall broke Joyce's throw right from the start, gaining an early lead and subsequently extending the score to 4-1. Throughout the best-of-15 match, Aspinall maintained his lead, dictating the pace of the game and demonstrating his composure under pressure.

Joyce, having defeated Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals, reached his first European Tour final. He narrowed the gap to 4-3 and 5-4 at one point, attempting a comeback. However, the 33-year-old Aspinall withstood the pressure, winning three consecutive legs to ultimately secure an 8-4 victory and claim the £30,000 prize.

Aspinall had previously only participated in one European Tour final, the 2023 German Darts Grand Prix, where he lost to Michael Smith. In the semi-final of this tournament, he finished his match against Gary Anderson with a stunning 170 checkout, forcing a deciding leg. Furthermore, he defeated world number one Luke Humphries 6-1 in the quarter-finals and Jermaine Wattimena 6-5 in the third round on Sunday, showcasing his consistent high level of play.

The 39-year-old Joyce defeated former world champion Rob Cross 6-4 in the third round, followed by a 6-3 victory over Scotland's Cameron Menzies. He then progressed to the final by defeating Van Gerwen 7-5. Notably, Van Gerwen defeated Gerwyn Price 6-4 in the quarter-finals, despite Price averaging 107.4. World Champion Luke Littler did not participate in this event held in Göttingen, Germany.
