Youth advocate Avinai Seruitabua is planning a 25-kilometer walkathon to raise $3,000 for the Brebunitu Village School Kindergarten. Scheduled for next Saturday, the event aims to improve the kindergarten's teaching conditions and provide a better learning environment for the children.

Seruitabua stated that a visit earlier this month, during which local parents expressed concerns about the school's lack of resources, prompted his idea to help the school in Nabukelevu Village, Serua Province. He pointed out that the village has over 500 residents, with kava and root crop farming being the primary source of income for many families, making the fundraising even more crucial.

The 26-year-old stated that this is his third time organizing a walkathon for fundraising purposes. In 2020, he undertook a 45-kilometer walkathon from Nabukelevu to Sigatoka Town to raise funds for those affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa. In 2022, Seruitabua walked 25 kilometers to raise funds for school stationery.

"This walkathon is a crucial step in providing modern and quality education for the students of Brebunitu Village Kindergarten," he said. "With the support of the community and the media, we can transform the lives of these children." The funds raised will be used to provide necessary resources for the kindergarten's children in need, including teaching aids such as school charts, a television, Wi-Fi, carpets, books, art supplies, cleaning materials, whiteboards, and paint.

He added, "A heartfelt thank you to Fiji Jack's for their generous donation and unwavering support. We are extremely grateful for the assistance received yesterday." As a young person, he is excited to connect with fellow youth and community members who are equally passionate about providing quality education at the grassroots level. "It is inspiring to connect with people who dream of making a difference, and I would like to invite more passionate individuals from the villages of Matakadavu, Nabutini, Navutulevu, and Namatakula to join us in supporting the 'Walk with Purpose' project. All are welcome."
