UAE President, Albania’s PM to strengthen bilateral ties in economy and investment

Abstract: UAE President and Albanian PM discussed bilateral ties, focusing on economic, investment, and development sectors. They signed an agreement for a joint financial venture, ALBtrace. They also discussed ADSW.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Excellency Edi Rama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and explored ways to strengthen and advance their relationship, particularly in areas that support their development. The talks also addressed a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

During the meeting held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, His Highness welcomed the Albanian Prime Minister, whose visit to the UAE was to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025.

The two sides discussed how to expand common interests and capitalize on opportunities to deepen cooperation in various fields, with a focus on delivering tangible benefits to the people of both nations. Particular attention was given to strengthening collaboration in the economic, investment, and development sectors. The two leaders also discussed the agenda of ADSW 2025, emphasizing its role in raising global awareness of sustainable development and providing an international platform for sharing insights and expertise. They noted that ADSW contributes to advancing global cooperation to address common challenges, especially climate change.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Edi Rama witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish a joint venture company named ALBtrace, specializing in financial solutions that will enable the Albanian government to monitor taxable products and ensure compliance with standards and regulations. The agreement was signed by Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), and Her Excellency Delina Ibrahimaj, Minister of Finance of Albania.

Also in attendance were: His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Presidential Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; and Ali Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic and non-resident Ambassador to Albania; along with a number of senior officials.
