The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers under the Dubai Chambers, recently announced several significant achievements in 2024. By the end of last year, the total number of active members of the chamber reached 258,318, an 18% increase compared to 2023. In addition, 70,500 new companies joined the chamber, representing a 3% year-on-year growth in membership.
In terms of exports and re-exports, the total value of exports and re-exports by chamber members exceeded 300 billion dirhams (approximately 81.7 billion US dollars) for the first time, reaching 309.6 billion dirhams, a 9.2% year-on-year increase. Simultaneously, the chamber issued 791,115 certificates of origin, an 8% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, the chamber issued and received 5,357 ATA carnets, involving goods with a total value of 4.3 billion dirhams.
Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, stated, "Dubai is continuously consolidating its position as a global business hub and becoming an ideal platform for growth and expansion across various industries. The emirate is constantly optimizing its comprehensive and business-friendly environment." He also added, "Building on the strong cooperation between the public and private sectors, the chamber continues to play a key role in supporting economic growth, promoting the interests of the business community, and creating promising opportunities for Dubai businesses and investors in local and global markets."
Regarding laws and regulations, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce collaborated with business groups to review 107 laws and draft laws, with a final adoption rate of 58% for the proposed recommendations. The chamber also held 177 meetings with business groups and councils and coordinated 27 meetings between business groups and councils and relevant government entities. Moreover, the chamber established nine new business councils in 2024, representing investors from Greece, Poland, Mexico, Colombia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Costa Rica, South Korea, and Vietnam.
In terms of dispute resolution, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce handled 171 mediation cases in 2024, a 21.3% increase compared to the 141 cases in the previous year. Of the mediation cases received last year, 88% were successfully resolved. To enhance corporate compliance awareness, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce organized 38 legal awareness workshops in 2024, with 2,698 private sector representatives from various industries participating. Additionally, the Dubai Center for Family Businesses conducted several training programs and activities and released relevant toolkits to support the sustainable development of family businesses.
To enhance corporate sustainability, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce launched a new ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) label last year, aiming to improve corporate sustainability standards. Developed by the chamber’s Center for Responsible Business, the label is designed to help companies assess their readiness and maturity in adopting ESG standards and recognize their achievements, thereby promoting sustainable growth. In 2024, 27 companies received the ESG label. The 2024 Sustainability Week organized by the chamber’s Center for Responsible Business attracted 526 participants from the business community, focusing on the contribution of digitalization and artificial intelligence to the development of sustainable business practices.
