According to a post on her Instagram page, Olivia Hussey Eisley, star of the 1968 film "Romeo and Juliet" and the classic horror film "Black Christmas," has passed away at the age of 73.
The statement released on her Instagram said, "It is with immense sadness that we announce that Olivia Hussey Eisley passed away peacefully at home on December 27th, surrounded by her family. Olivia was an extraordinary individual whose passion, wisdom, and pure kindness touched all who knew her."
"Romeo and Juliet" was a major breakthrough for the British-Argentine actress, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. She later starred in the 1974 horror film "Black Christmas" and also appeared in "Death on the Nile."
The statement also mentioned that Olivia was born in Buenos Aires on April 17, 1951, and that "her life was filled with a love and devotion to art, spirituality, and animals."
The statement continued, "Olivia leaves behind her loving family—her children Alex, Max, and India, her husband of 35 years, David Glenn Eisley, and her grandson, Grayson, along with a legacy of love that will forever be cherished in our hearts." The statement concluded, "While we mourn this immense loss, we also celebrate the enduring impact Olivia had on our lives and the industry. We thank everyone for their condolences and prayers during this difficult time, and kindly request privacy as we grieve the loss of this truly special soul."
