Abstract: AACTA's Industry Dinner saw "Furiosa" and "Better Man" win five awards each. "Boy Swallows Universe" dominated TV with six wins. Ceremony airs Feb 7.

Although "Better Man" received the most film nominations at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA), it failed to surpass George Miller's post-apocalyptic Mad Max franchise.

Robbie Williams' gorilla biopic and "Furiosa: A Mad Max Story" performed strongly at this week's Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) Industry Dinner, each securing five awards.

This year's Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) are divided into two ceremonies: Friday's awards show and the Industry Dinner, the latter designed to recognize those professionals typically behind the camera. In the television categories, the Netflix series "Boy Swallows Universe" dominated, taking home six awards. Tom Gleeson was named Australia's best comedian for his work on "Hard Quiz," while "Spicks and Specks" won Best Entertainment Program.

The main Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) ceremony will be held on Friday, February 7, at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) on the Gold Coast. This will be the third year the awards have been held on the Gold Coast, having previously been held in Sydney. The host for this year's ceremony is Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) President Russell Crowe.

The guest lineup attending the awards is also impressive, including Superman star Henry Cavill, Oscar nominee Guy Pearce, "Furiosa" director George Miller, and "Fisk" stars Kitty Flanagan and Aaron Chen. British superstar Robbie Williams will perform on the night and has confirmed he will sing his hit song "Angels." Paul Kelly's iconic song "How To Make Gravy," which was adapted for the screen last year, will also be performed on the night. Kelly will also receive the inaugural Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Outstanding Achievement, recognizing his contribution to Australian film through his music and soundtracks over the past 30 years.

The 2025 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) ceremony will air on Channel Ten on Friday, February 7, at 7:30 PM Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT). A recorded version will be available on BINGE and Foxtel from 7:30 PM on Saturday, February 8.
