New candidates to contest election

Fijian Prime Minister and leader of the People's Alliance Party, Sitiveni Rabuka, announced that he will once again publicly recruit volunteers to run as candidates under the People's Alliance banner in the 2026 general election. This move aims to select more outstanding talents within the party and prepare for future elections. This proactive approach demonstrates the party's commitment to strengthening its ranks.

In an interview with the Fiji Times, Prime Minister Rabuka pointed out that current members of parliament are also eligible to apply to participate in the election. This means that incumbent parliamentarians need to go through the same selection process to have the opportunity to represent the People's Alliance again. This ensures a fair and competitive selection process for all potential candidates.

Mr. Rabuka stated that he is satisfied that the party has enough capable members who are suitable to be considered for leadership positions. He emphasized that the People's Alliance has ample talent reserves to cope with future political challenges and provide better services to the people of Fiji.
