On Tuesday, renowned singer Billy Joel announced that he would have to postpone several tour dates due to the need to focus on post-operative recovery. This news has sparked widespread concern among fans, who have expressed their care for their idol's health.
Joel shared the news on his Instagram page, writing in a statement that the tour would be postponed for four months to allow him to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors. He stated that while he regretted postponing the shows, his health must come first. He looks forward to returning to the stage to share the joy of live music with his fans and thanks everyone for their understanding.
The statement also added that Joel is expected to make a full recovery from an undisclosed "medical condition." The "Piano Man" singer will be postponing eight shows. Existing ticket holders' purchases will be honored at the rescheduled performances, with the new dates ranging from November 2026 to July 2026.
The tour is expected to resume on July 5 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Last month, an audience member filmed Joel falling backward while performing "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" at a concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. However, Joel quickly got back on his feet and continued his performance.
Joel's next tour stop was originally scheduled for March 15 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, and is now rescheduled for March 14, 2026. It is reported that Sting and Stevie Nicks will join Joel for several of the rescheduled shows, bringing more surprises to fans.
