Abstract: Teen Matthew Brennan (Visma) won Volta a Catalunya's first stage in a sprint finish, beating Groves after overtaking Deryckere. It's his 4th straight win.

British teenager Matthew Brennan delivered an outstanding performance in the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya cycling race, securing his first World Tour victory. Brennan, only 19 years old and riding for Visma-Lease a Bike, surged to the front in the wet uphill sprint in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, crossing the finish line barely a meter ahead of his competitors to claim the win.

During the race, Thibo Deryckere of Alpecin-Deceuninck broke away from the leading group and appeared poised to take the victory. However, Brennan mounted a determined chase and successfully overtook him at the very last moment. The final stretch of the race proved to be exceptionally thrilling.

The British cyclist also successfully fended off a challenge from sprint star Kaden Groves (also from Alpecin-Deceuninck), who remained close behind throughout the chase. This victory marks Brennan's fourth consecutive win, following two victories in Visma's development team and his first professional race win at the Grote Prijs Denain.

The second stage of the Volta a Catalunya will be held on Tuesday, with riders cycling 177.3 kilometers from Banyoles to Figueres. This seven-stage race will conclude on Sunday in Barcelona. Below are the results from the first stage:
