The Australian Defence Force (ADF) yesterday held a school engagement event in East Honiara with students from the Mercy Christian School, St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Primary School, and the Burns Creek community. This event was part of the ADF's Pacific Sports Training Program, designed to promote community engagement and healthy lifestyles.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including fun sports training and energetic dance performances. The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) band also attended, adding a vibrant musical atmosphere to the event. The Brileys Women's Rugby Sevens team also participated, creating an exciting atmosphere for students and community residents, who actively participated in various interactions.
This event provided a fantastic opportunity for children and residents of Burns Creek to connect with the Australian Defence Force team and enjoy a fun and interactive morning. Through joint participation in sports activities, mutual understanding and friendship were enhanced.
To conclude the event successfully, the Australian Defence Force also donated sports equipment to the schools and community, adding a lasting impact to the day’s activities. This was not only an encouragement for the children but also provided support for the community's sports development.
This event not only provided participants with opportunities for physical exercise but, more importantly, it actively strengthened community connections and promoted community cohesion through sports and shared experiences. It was a meaningful and memorable community engagement activity.
