Abstract: USP Emalus campus closed due to earthquake damage, delaying the Feb 24 start. Online apps encouraged, paper forms available. Re-enrollment open for recent students.

The first semester at the University of the South Pacific (USP) Emalus Campus was scheduled to begin on February 24, 2025. However, following the earthquake that occurred last month, the Emalus Campus and its center are currently closed, based on the advice of the campus Disaster Management Committee (DISMAC).

This closure is to facilitate relevant teams in assessing and repairing any damage caused by the earthquake, while national authorities are also working to address public infrastructure issues. The earthquake has also affected communication channels with the campus. The university is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as possible.

The university is committed to keeping students and stakeholders informed about campus operations through direct communication and updates on the campus online platform. Students experiencing difficulties with online applications can obtain hard copy application forms at the Emalus Campus security booth.

The university encourages new and returning students to apply and register for courses online, or alternatively, they can submit paper applications at the campus. The Emalus Campus has reopened study applications for students who have been absent for less than three years, providing them with an opportunity to continue their studies. However, students who have been away from the university for more than three years must submit a new application as a new student.
