Danika Priim, a rugby league expert who previously worked as a commentator for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Sky Sports, has been charged with sexual assault.
Ms. Priim is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Horsforth Cricket Club in Leeds on July 22, 2022. Ms. Priim, 40, appeared in court last Thursday and is scheduled to appear again at Leeds Crown Court on March 13. She has not yet entered any plea at the previous hearing.
Ms. Priim, who resides on Keighley Road, played for the Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos in the Women's Super League during her career and represented England in the 2017 World Cup. She retired in 2021 and became the vice-president of the Rugby Football League (RFL) earlier this year.
A spokesperson for the Rugby Football League stated that Ms. Priim will voluntarily resign from her position as vice-president while the legal proceedings are underway. The spokesperson also stated that the organization will make no further comment until after the legal proceedings have concluded.
Ms. Priim has worked as a freelance commentator for the BBC and Sky Sports, including on the BBC's coverage of the 2022 Rugby League World Cup. Both organizations have declined to comment on the matter.
