It is reported that three Chinese warships operating in international waters off the coast of Australia recently may be conducting live-fire exercises, and pilots in the area have received relevant warnings.
Andrew Probyn, National Affairs Editor for 9News, revealed that at least two pilots flying different aircraft received broadcasts from one of the Chinese warships that morning, warning of impending live-fire shooting.
9News understands that Airservices Australia has been informing commercial pilots about reports of live-fire exercises being conducted by the People's Liberation Army Navy in the Tasman Sea (an area between Australia and New Zealand).
The Australian Defence Force confirmed yesterday that it has been monitoring the three warships (a frigate, a cruiser, and a supply ship) since they were discovered last week in international waters off the coast of Queensland. The fleet was about 150 nautical miles (276 kilometers) from Sydney and has remained in international waters.
The fleet includes the Type 055 guided-missile destroyer "Zunyi," which is considered one of the most advanced warships in the world.
