Police have announced that a body has been found in the search for a missing 26-year-old man, Louis Povezana.
Bristol police launched a large-scale search operation after Louis Povezana went missing after leaving The Jam Jar bar in the St Jude's area of Bristol in the early hours of Friday morning.
Avon and Somerset Police stated that a diving team discovered a body in the River Frome near Napier Road in the Eastville area at 18:00 BST on Monday. Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place.
A police spokesperson stated that while formal identification has not yet taken place, detectives have met with Mr. Povezana's family and informed them of the situation. "Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time, and they will continue to be supported by specialist officers," the spokesperson said.
At a press conference on Monday afternoon, Detective Inspector Peter Walker of Avon and Somerset Police said that Mr. Povezana called 999 for help within minutes of going missing. However, the call was disconnected after 34 seconds, and police were unable to reconnect with him. He was later captured on CCTV near the Eastgate Retail Park.
Mr. Povezana's disappearance prompted a large-scale search operation over the weekend, involving more than 100 police officers and staff, as well as dozens of volunteers.
