Abstract: FEO launched a 5-week project assessing 1468 voting venues (855 election day, 613 pre-poll) for Fiji's 2026 election. Aims for safe, accessible, and smooth process.

In preparation for the upcoming general election, the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has launched a five-week Voting Venue Assessment (PVA) project.

The project was launched concurrently with the training of Voting Venue Assessment Assistants held last Saturday in Suva. Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa, stated that one of the key roles of the assessment project is to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible election process.

Ms. Mataiciwa said, "At the heart of any democratic election is the right of every voter to cast their vote with ease and confidence. This project is a crucial step in guaranteeing that all voting venues are safe, accessible, and suitable for every Fijian voter."

She also stated, "You are not just collecting data; you are ensuring that every eligible Fijian has access to a voting venue that allows them to vote with ease and confidence. Your work will shape the success of the 2026 General Election."

The project will run from March 3rd to April 4th and includes a comprehensive assessment of 1468 voting venues across Fiji, comprising 855 Election Day venues and 613 pre-poll venues. The Fijian Elections Office has committed to providing support to all assessment teams throughout the project, ensuring effective management of challenges such as remote areas, temporary venue changes, and infrastructure issues.
