Abstract: Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis killed senior Hamas leader Salah al-Bardawil and his wife. Gaza deaths in 24h: 32. Conflict ongoing since Oct 7.

According to a BBC report early Sunday morning, Hamas officials revealed that an Israeli airstrike on the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis resulted in the death of Salah al-Bardawil, a senior Hamas political leader.

Local residents stated that the airstrike killed al-Bardawil and his wife. Al-Bardawil was a member of the Hamas political bureau. As of now, Israeli officials have not issued any comment on the matter.

The Israeli military resumed large-scale airstrikes on Gaza on Tuesday, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement that began on January 19, which had ended nearly two months of calm. Hamas denied Israel's accusations and, in turn, accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.

Officials from the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health stated that 32 Palestinians have been killed across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours. The Israeli military launched an operation on October 7, 2023, aimed at destroying Hamas, after Hamas launched an unprecedented cross-border attack that resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and 251 people taken hostage.

The Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health claims that more than 49,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since then, with widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
