A police officer believed to be involved in a major drug trafficking ring in Suva has been detained. The officer was arrested after police discovered over 6,000 suspected dried marijuana branches at his residence.
During the raid, police found four large sacks and a garbage bag full of dried marijuana leaves at his home. These marijuana leaves were bundled and placed in the living room of his residence.
The raid was conducted based on a tip-off, with police launching the operation at 3 a.m. yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed to the Fiji Times that the officer has been charged.
Mr. Driu stated that no one is above the law, and this is part of the police's efforts to weed out bad elements and remove rogue officers from the force.
