Since December 21, 2024, the Vanuatu Family Health Association (VFHA) has successfully provided free clinical health services to over 4,000 people in the community through fixed and mobile clinics. This initiative aims to provide convenient healthcare support to local residents.
VFHA, in collaboration with the SHEFA Health Department, has conducted outreach services in various locations, including Black Sands, Crab Hipiik, Stella Marie, Errakor Village, and other areas within the Errakor Area Council, such as Etas and Eton communities. These collaborations ensure that healthcare services reach a wider range of communities.
Currently, VFHA's mobile clinic is stationed in the Eton area and at the Errakor Clinic, while two fixed clinics are located at the Freshwota Field Stage and the Malapoa College campus. These clinics offer a variety of medical services, including sexual and reproductive health services, such as rapid testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and HIV, as well as prenatal care for emergencies and general health issues.
All services are provided free of charge, encouraging those in need to visit the designated locations for medical attention. VFHA plans to continue offering these free services until January 25, with a goal of assisting 5,000 people. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has played a crucial role in advancing this initiative by providing significant support to VFHA, including deploying a midwife and a registered nurse to participate in the response efforts.
This week, VFHA will open a clinic in the Eton area, offering all of the aforementioned services. This measure will further expand the coverage of healthcare services and provide more convenient healthcare options for local residents.
